About Us

Built by someone who's done the work.

Seven years in this industry before I wrote a line of this. OVRT isn't outside software guessing at the trades — it's built by someone who's done the work.

Our Mission

Know what a job costs while you can still do something about it.

Hours, receipts and the number you quoted belong in the same place — on the day the work happens, not in a spreadsheet three weeks later when the job is already closed.

The problem he built this to solve was his own.

  • 7 years in landscaping
  • Foreman — estimating, ordering, crews
  • Finance major, UW–La Crosse

Wes Overton has spent seven years in the landscaping industry. He runs estimating, ordering and crews as a foreman at a working Minnesota landscaping company — the same job he had before any of this existed, and the same one he goes back to every summer.

The problems were his own, and they were boring ones. Hours came in on scraps of paper and got copied into a spreadsheet days later. Receipts lived on the dashboard of a truck until somebody remembered them. The number quoted to a customer sat in one place and the hours the crew actually put in sat in another — so nobody found out whether a job made money until it was finished, and by then there was nothing to be done about it.

He is also a finance major at UW–La Crosse, and that is where the other half of this comes from. A job that is losing money is losing it on a particular day, in particular hours, for a particular reason. None of that is visible after the fact in a total — you can only act on it while the job is still open.

So he built it, alongside a full class schedule and a full-time trade job. Forge Field started as a tool for one crew: his own. It runs real jobs on a working Minnesota crew today, and every feature in it was used on an actual job before it was ever offered to anybody else.

What a client gets is that same software, set up to fit the way their own company already runs — so nobody has to change how they work a job just to use it.

Why OVRT

Not an outside vendor guessing at the trades.

Real trade experience

Seven years in the landscaping industry — bidding jobs, ordering material and running crews every week — the software reflects how the work actually happens, not how a spreadsheet thinks it should.

Tested on real jobs

Forge Field started as a tool for one crew — every feature has already been used on an actual job before it ever ships to a client.

Support that understands the field

16/7, including major holidays — because job problems don't wait for business hours, and you're talking to the person who built it, not a ticket queue.
